I love having red hair, but as any faux red-head knows, it fades quickly and is really hard to maintain.
I use a permanent burgundy as my 'base' color and it is what I touch up my roots with...However, after about a month, I'm not quite ready to do my roots, but my red will start to blend in with my natural brownish/blondish color. That's where Special Effects comes in!
I use 'Blood Red' and I mix 2 parts conditioner with 1 part dye when I go over my hair (I have REALLY long hair, so I mix it this way in order to stretch my money). I then cover it with a shower cap and leave it on for a minimum of 4 hours, but preferably 6-8. It rejuvenates the color and looks beautiful! I keep my body clean, but only wash my hair 1-2 times a week. I can stretch my color another month this way and feel awesome...Though I'm sure it would last longer if I didn't mix it with conditioner and/or bleached my hair.
The reason I give it 4 stars instead of five is that it can stain the scalp REALLY well if you let it sit there. I often have to attack my scalp with Q-Tips to remove it. This dye will (like most punky colors) also bleed every time you shower...So I do fear getting caught in a downpour outside some day (let's just pray I'm not wear a white shirt at the time).

I bought Purple Smoke and Cupcake pink, and I LOVE them!! I've gotten lots of compliments on the colours too :) I'm now gonna buy Hi Octane Orange and Limelight, and I'm sure they are awesome too :) My hair is brown btw,so I had to bleach it first to get the proper colour :)

This stuff has always worked well for me. Of course it doesn't work well on non-bleached hair. The cuticle of the hair strand isn't open and the hair might have too much natural or darker pigment for the dye not to show. This is a demi-permanent dye and it essentially stains the hair. It will only stick to hair that has been lightened and/or bleached. For hair that is extra fried from bleaching, it will not stay as long.

I loved the colour but it kept rubbing off my hair onto clothing for over a week after dying and staining my shower when I washed by hair. Not convenient to use at all.
