Great texture, but too peppery for my tastes
From Susan Sterner of Martinsburg, West Virginia on .
The texture was wonderful, but the seasoning wasn't exactly what I wanted. It had a lot of pepper flavoring (red, green, cayenne), but that turned out to be a little bit overwhelming and boring for me. I guess I was expecting more of a savory barbecue flavor or something. But it's very possible that the flavoring is actually very spot-on when compared to a real non-vegan sloppy joe -- I'm in no position to judge since I really don't remember the last time I had one. I guess I learned my lesson that sloppy joe seasoning does not taste like barbecue seasoning. I recommend Soy BBQ Mix by Harvest Direct for barbecue sandwich purposes; it has the same great texture as this, but with more savory flavorings. Also, this sloppy joe mix has a lot of dehydrated vegetables added in, so make sure to add a lot of water and let it boil and sit for awhile to rehydrate all the vegetables. Otherwise, you'll be bombarded with a lot of hard bits when you eat it.
Bleh. Don't bother
From Carin Kelley of Hamilton, Ontario on .
Bleh! I didn't like this at all. There were hard bits and it tasted very badly. The seasoning was really off. Get the Vegan Sloppy Joe Mix from Fantastic Foods instead.
So worth it
From Anonymous of Milwaukee, Wisconsin on .
I'm eating it right now... it's the best, better than meat sloppy joes in my opinion.
