Does NOT contain MSG!
From Ellen Cotton of Fremont, California on .
I have been using this product for years. It does not contain any MSG. I am highly allergic to MSG and have never had a problem with this product. In fact this is my most used and favorite vegan product. My non-vegan husband and son both love the dishes I make with it.
MSG

Yeast does not contain MSG. MSG is monosodium glutamate. This is a salt form of glutamic acid. Glutamic acid is found in almost all of our food. It is in fish, shellfish, cured meats, mushrooms, ripe tomatoes, Chinese cabbage, spinach, celery, green tea, and fermented and aged products. The amount of glutamic acid in a mothers milk is about the same amount of MSG in a serving of broth with MSG added. If you wish to avoid MSG additives, I understand but don't confuse naturally occurring glutamic acid for MSG.
MSG!
From jean of Austin, Texas on .
When the ingredients list, "no MSG added," it does not mean the product is MSG free. What it does mean is that yeast extract inherently contains MSG as part of its chemical structure. Always beware when you see any ingredient stating, "no MSG added." Chinese restaurants also state this on their menu but when questioned must state that the bases they use DO contain MSG. The flavor is enhanced by MSG but it is totally not necessary. The vegetable bouillon cubes are very flavorful but I will not use any product containing MSG.
Delicious

Perfection. Might be due to the loads of sodium but that's bouillon for you. In any case, this is very, very good. Add a cube to about 2-3 cups of water for maximum tastiness.
Not MSG

I did some research and yeast extract is not the same as MSG. Please do your research before you condemn a fantastic product. Check it out: "Sorry, no! Autolyzed yeast is yeast that has been allowed to die and decompose (in the technical sense). MSG and AY contain free glutamic acids and are used similarly, but they are not the same! MSG is not extracted from yeast--but is made from varous starches such as cassava."
