The best Annie's vegan mac n cheez!
From ethicalveganchick of Aurora, Colorado on .
This is the best vegan mac n cheez from Annie's because it doesn't have a slight off taste like their vegan mac n cheezes that kind of taste similar to gross Daiya (so far I only like Daiya's desserts). Anyway, this Annie's mac n cheez is slightly sweet and slightly cheezy tasting and the shells get soft fast from boiling. Add some unsweetened vegan mylk & vegan butter & you're all set with no killed animals best of all! I also make home made vegan mac n cheez as well because all the variations are great. :-)
Interesting

Honestly, not bad. It tastes nothing like mac and cheese, but it’s still a yummy pasta and sauce.
Just Yummy

They do taste a bit different than you might expect, but the flavor in each bite makes this a delicious replacement for any vegan or non dairy person.
ok but can use improvements

the pasta takes forever to get remotely soft, definitely longer than package recommendations. The taste obviously isn't cheese flavor which I like but it was dull as dull gets. I had to add a bunch of spices to make it something I kinda enjoy (garlic powder, salt, pepper, soy sauce, chipotle seasoning, etc.) I also wouldn't add so much (if any) "milk", otherwise it's soupy. So for something a bit on the more expensive side... I'm not impressed. I would say to just make your own pasta but it's good for a quick meal I suppose.
Great!

Not as cheesy flavored as I would like but still really good and I'd definitely get it again.
Awful!

Disgusting! It tastes bland and slightly sweet?@&)?? Earth Balance much better!
Great product!

This is a great and healthy mac and cheese alternative! Just add a bit of salt and pepper and it's wonderful! Almost ate the whole box in one sitting..
Yuck!

I went into this knowing it wouldn't taste like mac and cheese. I still thought it was gross.
I really like it

I love this, especially the gluten free version. I can eat a box by myself without batting an eye. I like the pumpkin-y sweetness. I add a little smart balance and use unsweetened almond or cashew milk, then liberally grind pepper onto it for a little kick. Scrumptious. Definitely try it if you haven't yet!
delicious alternative

To be clear - this is not mac & cheeze, so it isn't going to taste like vegan cheeze. It is pasta and a 'creamy sauce', made of sweet potato and pumpkin. And it is totally delicious.
If you want a good pasta side dish (or main if you add steamed veggies and tofu) this is definitely one to consider. In my opinion, this produces a far superior dish than either of the recent mac & cheeze offerings from Daiya and Earth Balance. It perfectly balances the sweet and savory elements of the sweet potato and pumpkin.
My only complaint is that it lacked a little seasoning. The instructions don't call to salt the pasta water, but I think that would be a good idea. I mixed mine with steamed broccoli, carrot, zucchini and edamame, and there was still enough sauce to taste it. For a boxed pasta, that is a pretty good showing.
Actually, I do have another complaint. It is far too difficult to keep yourself from eating the whole box of stuff at one sitting...
Not "cheesy" enough

The shells cooked up nicely, but the sauce is a bit blah. I'd have liked it to have more cheese flavor.
