Terrible!
From Barbara of Exmore, Virginia on .
They look good after frying in the pan. That's about all I can say that's positive. There's something in the cakes that look like little pieces of potato that are just like chewing on rubber. I looked at the ingredients to see what it might be and I have no idea. And of course when a food doesn't have much taste, add pepper - it's noticeable on the first bite and gets more peppery the more you eat. I fried two cakes in the pan - could barely finish the first one. So there's one more to eat and two more frozen in the freezer and I don't know what I'm going to do with them.
excellent substitute

Fried in olive oil, great texture and taste! Just wish they didn't come wrapped in plastic.
Super good!!!!

Very tasty, love the texture and the taste. If you do like it, you're doing it wrong.
Great When Pan Fried
From Searles of Grand Prairie, Texas on .
I've been looking for something like this for a few years. I once lived in the Chesapeake Bay area for years and these are as close as I've ever found to being an actual crab cake. I sauteed mine in butter and was surprised. Next time, I may use some Old Bay Seasoning and garlic butter to spice them up a bit. I am also looking forward to perhaps making a Crab Etouffee with these as a base. Now, that the products are being sold online, the taste explosion will continue!
Great with Peas, Fries, and Sophie's other fishy alternatives
From Anonymous of Houston, Texas on .
The look a bit pale and weird, but the texture and flavor is good. None of us really like real sea food, but since I'm always looking to support gluten-free vegan food and companies that make alternatives for people like my family, I figured "Why not?! The Toona is pretty good!"
Just like I remember in my childhood, but doesn't make us feel weird and gag like real fish or crustaceans often do.
Love Healthy Crab Cakes

I am very satisfied with this healthy alternative to crab cakes. Being vegan can be made with unhealthy ingredients. Not these crab cakes from Sophia’s. The calories are reasonable for each serving compared to other recipes. The best part is no soy!
terrible
From Amy Zimmerman of Manalapan, New Jersey on .
I was so disappointed when I ate(ahem, attempted to eat) these faux crab cakes!!! Crab cakes are one of the things I miss the most about being a vegan and these didn't measure up. The texture wasn't stringy enough and they weren't fishy enough.
Truly Impressed
From Anonymous of Fredericksburg, Virginia on .
I ran across these in one of the local markets that has the largest vegan selection in my area. I though I'd give them a try and I'm telling you: being from the east coast and eating crab cakes all of my life.... These are WONDERFUL and I could not ask for a better flavor or texture in a plant based recipe. I am so happy that my vegetarian lifestyle now has even more deliciousness added.
Unbelievable

I didn't expect to like these at all but one taste and I'm blown away! These are marvelous! I am so happy to have found something so luscious! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
OMG!

I am so obsessed with these! We cooked them in a pan with some olive oil and they were one of the most delicious things I've ever tried. I want to try more of these faux fish products.
Very Good
From Ron Z. of Green Bay, Wisconsin on .
I really like these. I have not yet had these pan-fried like a normal crab cake but I have mixed them with some celery and green onion and a little vegenaise and stuffed it in an avocado half. Soooo good. I am having that for dinner again tonight.
Good, but not Crab Cakes
From TCT328 of Detroit, Michigan on .
These are good, but they taste more like hashbrowns than crab cakes. They lake the saltiness of crab; I was hoping for more of a generic sea flavor similar to the eco-vegan shrimp. I just don't think they are worth the money for those looking for crab cakes -- save some money and buy hashbrowns.
Unmitigated success
From Richard of La Plata, Missouri on .
I don't use a lot of processed, packaged food, so when I do, I want it to be better than average.
These look like real crab cakes. The inside is even shredded to make it look more authentic. The crust browns well (the crustier you get them, the better these taste), and they even sort of taste like real crab cakes. The 'meat' is a bit more rubbery than real crab would be, but it is probably as close as you could get and is shredded anyway. This is a very successful imitation vegan product.
I'd recommend thawing them about halfway, then cooking them on a hot cast iron pan for maximum color and flavor. But, if you ever liked crab cakes, you need to try these.
We LOVE these
From Anonymous of Denver, Unknown on .
We've tried a few of the Sophie's items -- the plain shrimp, the fish, the calamari and these crab cakes -- and these are by far the best. The calamari is pretty good (a little too firm), but these are some of the best "fake" meat products out there. Spray a pan with some cooking oil, then pan "fry" for a few minutes on each side (we like them kind of dark) and you're done. Delicious.
awesome

Insanely awesome. I love sophie's kitchen items, but this is the best. Absolutely love it.
