In no way, shape or form does this resemble Lox!
From Robertjm of Albany, California on .
I love real lox on a bagel with cream cheese. But, recently I've been trying to move towards a plant-based diet at the advice of my doctor. When I saw a "lox" option I had to try it, and since it was from Miyoko's I was excited to try it because I've had several of their other products. BIG MISTAKE!!
This product resembles the flavor of lox as much as I resemble a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model. Not at all!! In all honesty, I'm even having a problem pinning down on exactly what it is supposed to taste like. It's not smokey. It's not fishy. It's not dill. All those are flavor profiles I expect when I think of lox or lox-flavored cream cheeses.
It is palatable enough to use on toast (barely) with a ton of vegetables for a sandwich, and that's only because it costs so much. If it were cheaper I would've tossed it in a heart beat.
Do yourself a favor and give this one a hard pass if you are trying to find a substitute for salmon.
NY bagel dreams come true
From Anonymous of Los Angeles, California on .
I love a good sesame bagel with lox spread, cucumbers and pickled onions, but after going vegan that wasn’t a possibility. Enter this! (I hear angels sing)I honestly think just tastes like lox spread (smoked salmon cream cheese for non NYers).I think the people who complain about the seafood/sea water taste don’t know what lox spread is all about.
Unpalatable

Unbearably bitter tasting and inedible. The worst vegan cheese I’ve ever tried.
Get to know what 'fabulous' tastes like!
From Leeza of New York, New York on .
We ordered three of these because this cruelty-free cream cheese from the sea transforms the bagel brunch into a thing of beauty! Toasted bagel or not, a few capers and a thin slice of red or white onion or not - slather liberally for a sandwich that will bring you joy! Also delish on rye and sourddough breads. (Full disclosure:we have cherished this salmon-free marvel ever since Miyoko's first unveiled it). Try mixing some into just-drained stilll-steaming plant-sourced pasta or into your plant-sourced eggless scramble. Let this cheese get easily spreadable - please do not chip away at it if your fridge is like, well, an ice-box! Soft and spreadable, flavor is optimal. And, yes, there is a "taste of the sea." This is not a source of complaint! Seaweeds and fish come from Earth's waters. Only seaweeds are seafood, A salmon is somebody. Just as I am. This splendid cream cheese is marvelous: satisfying to the palate and to the soul. The definition of veganism is, simply, nonviolence. Toward EVERYONE, everywhere, all the time. What's in it for the human animal? PEACE ON EARTH. Now toast a bagel, slather on this remarkable cruelty-free gift from the master cheese makers of Miyoko's -- slather it liberally -- add a couple of capers and a slice of red or white onion, get your cup of shade-grown bird-friendly coffee, and feel free to get to know what fabulous tastes like.

this, on an everything bagel, topped with mini cucumber slices, red bell pepper slices, cherry tomatoes and a drizzle of sriracha... AMAZING. Best breakfast/lunch.
