Tastes more like sloppy joe
From Ryan of Ann Arbor, Michigan on .
This product is fine, but I couldn't recommend it ever. The texture is chunky, which isn't really like pulled pork. Not great, but fine. My real problem is that it doesn't taste anything like barbecue. Barbecue sauce can easily be vegan, so how did they miss the mark so bad? It tastes, to me, like sloppy joe mix or maybe like the crappy tomato sauce that comes with canned pasta.
It's fine, but just.... a definitive miss on how it's branded.
Not one of the Better Fake Meats
From PJ Chmiel of Lawton, Michigan on .
My wife picked this up on sale at a local healthfood store. I love BBQ and seitan, and felt this product was rather inferior on both counts. As others have noted, it has very little sauce, so I had to add more of my own. Flavor and texture were so-so, not great, and size of shreds was uneven, with some tiny ones and some giant weird chunks. Would not buy a second time. Retail price was over $9 and it only had 1-2 servings.
Add your own sauce

We've gotten this several times. It's an acceptable BBQ substitute. Adding my own favorite BBQ sauce makes it better.
Meh
From Joanna of Chicago, Illinois on .
Meh. It was ok. I wouldn't go out of my way to special order it. The "sauce" isn't very saucy- directions say to add a little water while heating up. I also added some bottled bbq sauce to improve/increase flavor. "Shred" texture was decent although when I have made something similar at home in the past, having longer "shreds" made the seitan texture closer to the real thing. A little too mushy overall and not enough chewy texture (t least I remember pulled pork and pulled chicken to be a little more stringy and chewy than this was. Better than nothing, esp when you are really craving that pulled pork sandwich, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.
Pretty good

I wouldn't get again but it certainly wasn't bad. Good in a pinch.
Fantastic!

I've been a vegan for a very long time. I've never felt like I'm 'missing' something not eating murdered animals. But I was curious about the BBQ pork. It is fantastic!! I was really surprised that it was so good. I wouldn't hesitate to order it again. Absolutely delicious!
pretty good

This is much more successful than No Evil's other meats. The shredded pork was pretty good, and the BBQ sauce was acceptable. But $8 for basically 2 servings?
Great BBQ!

As a vegetarian of about 3 years, I've missed NC Pork BBQ. For me, this has taken its place. I'll keep it on hand.
Excellent Taste

As a new vegan, I have been skeptical with plant based "meats" but this was great! I am not surprised it's great BBQ given it's BBQ from North Carolina but what is surprising is that it's vegan and it tastes delish! Even my meat-eater husband liked it. Definitely will order this again!
