Eating it right now!

I don’t usually google my food. But that I did now means this ‘bacon’ sparked my interest!
Favorite Vegan Bacon
From Meredith Meeks of Great Falls, Virginia on .
I have bought dozens of these boxes of lightlife smart bacon over the years. Although I've tried many other brands on the market, this product continues to be the best vegan bacon out there. I like my bacon crunchy and not greasy, so I bake these in the oven and do not add oil - for a different texture, cook them with oil on the stovetop.
Fantastic & highly recommend

Wow!! Even if I were still eating corpses of slaughtered pigs, I’d eat this “bacon” instead!! It’s non greasy & cooks without filling the house with the “smell/stench” ... 20 calories per slice... arteries not clogging.... digestive system happy... what’s not to love ?? Wonderful bacon!! Look forward to other products from this company.
Yum!

So far, these are my favorite meatless bacon strips. I've tried a few other brands, and they just don't cook as nicely as these. I just put a little bit of olive oil in a pan and cook them for about 3-4 minutes per side, until desired crispness. They will cook up very crispy if you want them to, which I always do, since I'm usually using them on vegan egg sandwiches or blt's, so you want the crisp. I agree they are a bit hard to pull apart...they could work on that aspect, because it is a bit frustrating, but the product itself is a winner!

Tastes good but it's hard to pull apart into strips, it just comes apart. Really frustrating, won't buy again
Amazing!!

Pretty close on taste and texture to real bacon. My mom, who recently went vegetarian also liked it. The texture makes it more "authentic" then their tempeh bacon which is also really good.

I tried these a few years ago and didn't like them much. Whether they have changed the formula, or what, when I re-tried them recently, my opinion was definitely higher. This time, I was able to get good crunch, had a nice smoky flavor, and overall was pretty enjoyable. My only complaint is that these, like most 'real' bacon, is too salty, but the strips make a nice BLT.
better then the rest

I eat meat but do not like all the nitrites in turkey bacon and wanted a product that is healthier and this product tastes better then all the other fake bacons out there and even this meat eater will continue to buy this one.I found the best way to enjoy this is to spray a little olive oil in a pan and cook for 3 minutes per side do not over cookor they become real hard.
Love this

Very good. I enjoyed very much. Who needs meat?
Amazing.

I cooked mine in a fry pan with a little dairy free butter. After a few minutes, they crisped perfectly, and were delicious! Definitely a staple food to have for breakfast and sandwiches.
Mmmm blt's again!

Blt's used to be one of my favorite foods before becoming vegetarian. I am very particular about mock meats but these taste alot like bacon to me. I baked them in oven until very crisp.
The best I've tried
From Melissa of Alexandria, Virginia on .
This is the best fake bacon I've tried. However, it's best when you bake it in the oven. Then it tastes as close to the real thing as you can get. I even have my omnivore brother buying this product. He tasted it on a veggie burger I made, and then he realized it's a lot easier to prepare than the real thing.
Easy and Wonderful!

Before going veg, bacon was a favorite in my household, and I absolutely loved making BLTs. It's been three years since I've been able to enjoy one, but my mother bought me this to try last month, and I am HOOKED.
Eating it plain was nice, and I'm sure it would be wonderful with breakfast, but I especially enjoyed eating the BLT that I made; delicious! I also loved that I could cook it for a shorter time to make it chewy (which is how I always preferred my bacon), or let it fry a little longer to bring it to a nice crisp.
I can't recommend it enough!
My veggie breakfast is whole again

I have tried a few other brands of fakon and not one of them came even close and just when I was about to give up I came across this brand.. Well let me just say that I have a reason to get up early again..
Pretty good
From Anonymous Lee of New York, New York on .
The bacon flavor was good but not as smoky as I like. I found that to get the bacon crispy I had to nearly burn the strips. I prefer "Stripples" (available at my local health food store) to this brand but overall quite good. Pretty low in sodium for a faux meat product.
Wonderful and easy to make

I absolutely -LOOOVE- these. They truly are better than the real thing and a thousand times healther. Just follow the directions to a T, don't get all fancy because the strips are very delicate and can't handle alot of rough-housing during cooking.
Mediocre At Best

After reading the other reviews here, I was excited to try this product.
Cooking the strips as recommended produce a flabby, lifeless reddish-brown strip that tastes and smells far more like beef jerky than bacon and which has a salty in-your-face dried taste and texture to it. From out of the package to cooked, this product never smells anything like bacon and doesn't taste like it.
I can only assume that the other reviewers haven't have meat in so long they have forgotten what bacon tastes like. Not like this... Morningstar Farms fake bacon is far superior to this although a bit tricky to cook exactly right.
Even better than the real thing
From Anonymous of Alexandria, Virginia on .
I love to add these strips to a veggie burger, a faux-chk'n fillet, or just eat plain with toast. The instructions say that you can fry the strips, but when I did that the result was gross. When they're baked in the oven, however, they're great. Flat in appearance, but delicious.
Delicious

I recently became a Vegan in June 2009, before then I hadn't eaten pork at all for over 10 years. So I don't know what compelled me to try this. But I have to say, it is quite delicious. Uncooked, it smells a little like dog food. But it's crispy just like good bacon and has an almost identical taste from how I remember real bacon tasting. Good move on Lightlife's behalf.
LOVE IT!!!

I love Smart Bacon!!! I use in on BLTs and just eat it alone! I think it is similar to Turkey Bacon that I use to eat b/f becoming vegan.

I love this stuff. It doesn't taste a whole lot like bacon, but it's yummy and has a great satisfying texture. The best way to cook it is in a skillet with a little olive oil. Great for sandwiches.
Pretty darn good!

I don't use a lot of meat alternatives. But it's been so long since I had (delicious) bacon, I was excited to try this product.
I have to say, it's pretty good! It kind of smelled like bacon (or at least what I remember) when it was cooking in the frying pan.
I will admit it took about 2 or 3 bites to really get into it. The first bite was a bit odd...almost fibrous. And I didn't immediately love the taste, that first bite. But by the time I finished that first slice, I was kind of hooked. I gobbled-up the three remaining strips I'd cooked, and knew I'd be ordering this again.
The product arrived just fine, despite 5 days in-transit, in a cold shipper box, in early July.
Best ever!

This is really awesome stuff. It's delicious and makes a great BLT with some hummus. It is not gross and chewy, but you can cook it in a nonstick frying pan to give it that "burnt bacon" taste. Goes great with homefries and tofu omelettes too!
