Strange Pieces in Product
From Lupe of Long Beach, California on .
I enjoy chorizo but no longer could eat it because of the strange pieces of meat or whatever they use made me physically sick. So I began eating soyrizo a long time now, maybe 5 yrs ago. Unfortunately, I found this product as having the same texture as the regular chorizo. There is strange pieces of skin or rubbery stuff that I couldn't chew.
good stuff

As another review mentions, this is the mushy Mexican type of chorizo, not the hard Spanish sort. I sauteed it a while in a little oil, and put it in a pot of posole and it was very good. I think it is more suitable for a stew sort of application than a seitan chorizo is since the seitan tends to break down. A little can also make a great Vegan Egg chorizo omelet.
Muy bueno

One of the better chorizo meat substitutes on the market. I heated a skillet to medium, added a little oil, and emptied the chorizo into the pan. I allowed the bottom to get crispy and dark and then flipped and then broke up the pieces. It comes out of the plastic casing as mush, but it has a nice texture as it cooks. Smells exactly like non-vegan chorizo and tastes very similar. This was great with some Follow Your Heart vegan eggs, salsa, and avocado.
