HAM
From Karen Hawrysz of Aurora, Illinois on .
This is the best plant based ham anywhere! We have it every Easter! Thank you for caring this product! <3
Heat the glaze separate!!
From Anonymous of Yorba Linda, California on .
I cooked per instructions and found the ham to be sub par. I wasn’t impressed. HOWEVER, the problem is the instructions say to pour the glaze over the ham and continue to cook, and the ham has a tight skin around it so none of the glaze soaks into the ham, it just spreads out over the pan and gets wasted. I scraped some of the glaze off the pan and saved for leftovers. Once I cut up the ham and spread the glaze over the inside of the ham it was DELICIOUS!! I understand why there is negative reviews because none of the glaze gets soaked in with current instructions, I highly recommend heating glaze up separately and dipping it in or cutting up the ham and drizzling the glaze over. Seriously tastes like honey baked ham it’s so good! Glad I didn’t immediately discount it!
Very Good!

First of all, I find it very interesting that all of the recent negative reviews were submitted anonymously. Coincidence?
My wife and I have been eating these vegan "hams" on Thanksgiving for the past five years, if memory serves me correct. We both think they have great flavor, texture, and mouth chew. They are very, very close to providing the experience of eating actual ham, without the torture-come-death, of course! ;-) Every non-veg person we have shared them with has commented about how much the roasts taste like ham. My only criticism is that they are a bit pricey, and quite difficult to find. Thank you, Vegan Essentials for carrying so many great products!
Disappointed

Omni hub and I had high hopes for this product and it was not up to par at all. WAY too salty, not enough flavor - almost like Tofurky used salt to give it flavor...won't be buying again unless the recipe has changed. Texture was very good, but that's the only good thing about it.
Love this!

I use this to make a delicious summer ham salad recipe. Everyone loves it, both Vegan and meeting eating. I also use it to make a Denver omlette as well. You can find lots of creative ways to use this, as well as just slicing it up at holiday time.
Not good
From Anonymous of philadelphia, Pennsylvania on .
The glaze is decent but the actual ham just tastes like a big rubbery ball of gluten. This thing is way overpriced. I have been a vegan chef for over 26 years and have authored cookbooks so I understand flavor. All Tofurkey products taste the same basically. I enjoy their smoked turkey slices but this ham is overhyped rubbery rubbish. I followed all instructions to a T too. Save your money. Lam Shen Kee makes a wayyyyy better ham roll, if you can find it at any Asian markets.
Do not recommend

My husband and I (2 year vegetarians) do not like the flavor of this. It reminds me of how I recall bologna tasting. My husband only ate once slice and refused to eat anymore.

I was amazed by both the taste and texture. Exactly how I remember ham. I didn't think I'd like the beer glaze, because I don't like beer, but it was also excellent. Yummmmm!
P.S. I love many Tofurky products, including the Tofurky roast, sandwich slices (original is my favorite flavor), and slow roasted chick'n. I haven't been able to find the pizzas in a long time, but the vegan sausages were the best - I recommend them all!
Excellent

Delicious, and the most realistic of any mock meat I have tried. I add mustard and cloves to the glaze to replicate the sauce I used to make when I ate ham.
really good

I had high hopes, and they were met. This is an excellent product. Tasty. Could be used as the main dish, or chopped for a salad or a casserole. The glaze was just the right amount of sweetness. I think even non-vegans would like this product.
Impressive!

Veganessentials has been sold out of these for a while now and I now know why, because they're absolutely amazing! I have been waiting to be notified when these are available, but my dear sweet friend found one at a vegan friendly store and picked one up and gifted it to me for Christmas. I had it on New Years eve and WOW, I was blown away by the taste and texture. It cooked so nicely in my small crock pot and I fried the leftovers for breakfast the next day. I've been craving it ever since the last of the leftovers. Would give it ten stars if I could. Oh, by the way, the beer glaze was pretty awesome, too.

We had this for New Years Day dinner and OMG we were blown away. A friend came over to drop something off as I was cooking it and asked if I was cooking Ham as that's what it smelled like when she came in. She knows we are Vegan. Not only did it smell like ham, it had the texture of ham and the taste of ham. Fabulous! We did think the price was a little high for such a small roast but other than that, we were very happy with this product.
Excellent

I served this at our friend's Christmas party this year - it's very good and has a great smoky flavor. The texture is amazing and many of my non-vegetarian friends tried it and enjoyed it.
Awesome

I just happened to find this last week and hoped for the best. It was freaking AWESOME! It looks, smells and tastes just like ham. A homerun for sure!
Delicious

This is the best vegan ham we've tried. I can't say I thought much of the glaze, it just ran off the ham and burned on the bottom of the pan. I baked some, very gently fried some, and put some in soup. It was great no matter what I did.
Much as I'd like to eat this often, at $16.99 for a baseball-sized piece of roast plus a cold-shipper and shipping charges I think we'll limit ourselves to a couple of times a year.
