Each button measures around 2” in diameter,
and reads “Vegan” in large letters, and in smaller letters below it
also says “For the People. For the Planet. For the Animals.” An
excellent complement to the Vegan Compassion t-shirt or just when
worn by itself. $1.00 each.
P.S. to my previous review
From Jennifer Greene of Bellport, New York on 8/5/2015.
In the time since I posted my review, I've have second thoughts about the "Wear it on the days you *are* vegan" line. I still understand the effectiveness of a foot-in-the-door approach when it comes to behavioral change, but since I see veganism as participation in a justice movement, I just don't feel sincere if I say something that promotes the notion that one can "be vegan" some of the time. So here's how I might amend Matt Bear's tip: if someone says, "Oh, but I'm not vegan (yet)," I will smile and say encouragingly, "Here—going vegan is easier than ever, and it's the right thing to do, so if wearing this would help motivate you, I want you to have it."
It's like magic
From Jennifer Greene of Long Island, New York on 4/4/2013.
Here's what I do: I buy dozens of this button at a time. I print a sheet of return address labels with my vegan meetup group's URL on it, like this--"Sign up today: [meetup URL]" I stick the labels on the back of the buttons. I wear the button on my coat label, purse strap, etc. Whenever I go out, like magic, people interested in veganism start talking to me! I'll take off my button & offer it as a gift to them, showing the URL on the back is where they can sign up to join my group. And here's a tip from the button's maker, Matt Bear: if someone says, "Oh, but I'm not vegan (yet)," smile and say encouragingly, "Here—wear it on the days you *are* vegan." :)
