As some other people have said in their reviews I also think that this product has a smell that makes me sick. I can't place it but it's extremely off putting. Reminds me of something bad.

It took a bit for us to get this right. I heated it too far and all the spices dropped to the bottom. I had to try to scoop them each time. I wasn't enthused. Then I just barely warmed it to spreadable, not liquid. Gave it a good stir and - perfect! Now we can store it in the cupboard (our house is usually cool) or the refrigerator - doesn't matter. The spices stay in place. Seems like it could be sold that way and marketed in the refrigerator section...but then we couldn't order it online.I haven't eaten real bacon in 40 years, so my judgment on its likeness may not be perfect, but I'd say no, it doesn't taste exactly like bacon, but it has a sweet/smoky flavor that's beguiling. It adds some healthy fat to my diet - which I need. I find that I'm much less hungry throughout the morning, and the family is enthused. My only negative is the price. I tend to use a little of it and fill in with olive oil because this is so expensive. But no, adding liquid smoke to oil wouldn't taste the same, so it won't stop me from buying a new jar.

I had high hopes for this product. However, I tried it with my kale for Thanksgiving, and I had less than desirable results. It has a funky aftertaste that ruined the whole batch of kale. I wish that I'd had the positive reactions that almost everyone on here has had for this product, but I'm sorry to report that I had no such luck.
Doesn't live up to the hype

It's so-so. I'll use up what I have but will not repurchase. You can probably get the same results with a few drops of liquid smoke and a dash of maple syrup/sugar. It also has a strange and not particularly pleasant aroma, and the smell lingers in my kitchen all day after use. Would not recommend.

After going Vegan, I didn't miss the bacon, but what I did miss was that little something extra I would get in my potatoes and eggs that I used to get after cooking bacon - all those little crispy bits that linger in the pan that add so much flavor. After I stopped eating them, my potatoes and tofu scrambles were just missing something that I thought I would have to go without. After finding this product though, that something special is back and I'm hooked! I don't know how they did it. Must be the "Magic" part of it.
