Here's the deal. There's a caveat with the five stars. First, this is not, in our opinion, meant as a sliced cheese in cold sandwiches or to be eaten cold at all.. The taste and texture are not good out of the package. We all agree that a brick or flaked would have been a more appropriate way to present this cheese for optimally easy use, Now, the reason for five stars: used in cooked food (grilled sandwiches, melts, nachos, pizza, pasta...) this cheese comes into its own and is fabulous! Satisfying, hearty, with marvelous texture and flavor. Melting, softening, heat transform this cheese into precisely what Violife describes. You want cheddar? Just don't slip a cold slice into a cold sandwich. Don't say you weren't warned. Make some nachos - use the recipe Violite provides on the package or your own. Then come here to leave five stars!

It melts. It tastes like cheese. There aren’t really any sketchy ingredients in it. I melted it and dipped pretzels in it and also used it to make vegan quesadillas. Highly recommend.

I was so pleased to find a cheese alternative that tastes good cold and hot! I concocted a Au Gratin potato casserole using this Violife cheese and it was heavenly! As a surface topping, it doesn't melt beautifully, but as an ingredient or on a burger it is wonderful! I've been telling all of my vegan friends that this is the real deal!

Not like cheddar at all. I don't get the rave reviews. Not any better than the follow your heart brand vegan cheese I purchase locally maybe not as good. Still looking for a product that wows me.
